This site is still under development.  It is being developed into the central portal for  the HSDPT Alliance system, which is an initiative of Dr. Seidel and Foundation QA, to provide an international framework for quality assurance in PDA testing.

As we develop the site, we will be seeking support from public and private sector owners, consultants, contractors and testers who have an interest in the Alliance principles.

Please look at the information on this site, and feel free to contact Dr. Seidel with any questions.

Welcome to HSDPT Alliance
HSDPT stands for High Strain Dynamic Pile Testing, or as it is more commonly known, Dynamic Pile Testing, or PDA testing.  Dynamic Pile Testing is arguably one of the most significant developments in foundation engineering of the past 30 years.  It provides the engineer not only with a fast and cost- effective method for assessing pile capacity, but also a powerful construction control tool that allows stresses to be measured, hammer performance to be assessed, and pile integrity to be confirmed.

Dynamic testing has transformed the driven pile foundation industry in many countries, where it is now used as the primary quality assurance technique for driven piles.  It is self-evident that a quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) technique should itself be subject to rigorous quality assurance.

However, because dynamic pile testing is a 'black box' technique which few engineers outside the testing fraternity itself understand, it is open to misuse both unintentionally by poorly training, and intentionally by manipulation.

PDA testing should be applied correctly and in a transparent way which satisfies a rigorous Quality Assurance system.  The HSDPT Alliance system provides specifications and standards for HSDPT testing according to QA principles.

This web site is a portal for the HSDPT Alliance system.  It provides access to Owners, Testers and Reviewers who mutually require and agree that Testers must meet rigorous quality standards.
